Position

The primary focus of an Instructor will be to teach Snapology programs. Instructors are asked to promote creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills while educating students on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) concepts. Programs are conducted for children ages 2-14. This role requires internal collaboration and communication with Snapology leadership as well as representing the Snapology organization to parents & children with a high degree of professionalism.

Responsibilities

  • Lead groups of students through curriculum-guided activities
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures
  • Have fun and create a fun experience for the children
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use the information to adjust teaching strategies
  • Adequately prepare for each program by reading curriculum, watching training videos and/or participating in face-to-face training sessions
  • Handle inquiries from parents regarding Snapology programs
  • Encourage students & parents to enroll students in future Snapology programs
  • Participate in periodic Snapology training & staff meetings, as required

Skills

  • A clear Criminal and Child Abuse Registry screening
  • Experience working with children in a classroom or camp environment
  • Education degree or teaching experience recommended for Lead Instructors
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis
  • Have reliable, insured transportation to transport materials and conduct mobile classes around the east side of Atlanta

Location and Details:

We are primarily a mobile business, and we offer our programming in Atlanta, Decatur, Chamblee, and the surrounding areas.

We are looking for an assistant Instructor who has a flexible schedule and is interested in supporting our weekly classes during school days, and our camp schedule during school breaks.

Shifts Available:

  • School Day Classes : 1-4 hours in length and occur during the school day
    • Currently running between the hours of 11:30 and 3:00 Monday-Thursday in South Decatur, Candler Park, and North Decatur
  • Evening Classes: 1-2 hours in length and occur in the evenings on school days
    • Currently running in Virginia Highland, Decatur, Oakhurst, and Chamblee Monday-Thursday from 5:00 until 6:00 each day
  • After-School Programs: 2-4 hours in length and occur after school hours on school days
    • Currently running between 1:00 and 5:00 on school days in Candler Park
  • School Break Camps: 4-9 hours in length and occur when schools are closed for breaks
    • Currently scheduled for Fall Break, Election Day, Thanksgiving Break, and Holiday Break following the academic calendars for Atlanta Public Schools, City Schools of Decatur, Dekalb County School District, and select independent schools
  • Evening/Weekend Workshops and Promo Events: 2-6 hours in length and occur during the evening and on weekends
  • Birthday Parties: 1-2 hours in length and occur on weekend afternoons
