Summary:

Quantitative Support is seeking American Universitystudents tojoin our tutoring team for thefall2026 semester.Tutoring positions will startthe week ofSeptember 7and continuethroughDecember 11, 2026.Positions are for a semester. Tutors willprovidequantitativetutoringand/or statistical software support to their peers.

The types of tutoring positions available are as follows. Mathematics tutoring positionsfocus onassistance tostudents takingMATH-155 through MATH-222.Applicantsto work in these positionsmust have successfully completed a minimum of three semesters of calculus. Statisticstutoring positionsfocus onassistancetostudents takingSTAT-160 - STAT-302/320.Applicantsto work in these positionsmust have completed at least two statistics courses (STAT-202 and an intermediate-level course). Online Statistical Software Support: Candidatesfor software support positionsshould be proficient inusingone or more of the following: Excel, Python, R,SAS,SPSS,SQL,Stata, orStatCrunch.

In addition tofocusing onthe above courses, theQuantitativeTutoring Lab supports DATA-412/612.

Some candidates may be qualified to tutor inmathematics,statistics, data science,and statistical software support.

Essential Functions:

  • Arrive on time for shifts.

  • Greet students warmly upon arrival at the Tutoring Lab or at the beginning of an Online Statistical Software Support session.

  • For in-person tutoring:assistAUstudents in understanding quantitative concepts, applying those conceptsintheir coursework, and preparing for related exams.

  • Additionally, in-person tutors should remind students to use the lab check-in/out program and tosubmita tutoring evaluation.

  • For Statistical Software Support: guide students in usingtheaboveAU-supported statistical software and interpretingresultsfrom those platforms.

  • Moreover, online tutors should remind students tosubmita tutoring evaluation.

  • Arrange shift coverage in cases ofanticipatedlateness or absence.

  • Submit biweekly timesheetsin a timely manner.

  • PromotetheQuantitativeTutoring Lab and Online Statistical Software Support at University eventsduring shifts.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

  • Part-time.

  • 10 hours per week.

Salary Range:

  • $18.40 - $22.50 per hour.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Enrolled in a mathematics, statistics,data science,orotherquantitative-related courseduring the fall 2026semester.

  • Strong academicachievementinrelevant courseworkand/or statistical software.

  • Experienceincollaboratingwell with peers andapassion for helping them succeed.

  • A faculty letter of recommendation.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

  • During fall semesters, tutors typicallyworka set schedule ofbetweentwoandfifteenhours per week, depending on their availability andthe needs of students and Quantitative Support.

  • Tutoring positions are open to both undergraduate, graduate, and PhD students.
