Job description

Company Overview

Kristen Distributing Company is a local, family-owned beverage distribution company based in the Bryan/College Station area, with a rich history dating back to 1930 when it was founded in Bellville, Texas. Our mission at Kristen Distributing Company is to uphold the highest standards by providing exceptional beverages that align with the manufacturer's marketing concepts. We are dedicated to fostering an environment that encourages personal independence, offers abundant opportunities, and prioritizes the development that enhances the strengths and dignity of our employees and customers.

Position Overview

The Part-Time Order Selector accurately selects and builds customer orders assigned through the Encompass app, preparing product for next-day delivery. Working an evening shift in a fast-paced warehouse environment, this position is accountable for picking each order correctly, staging it properly, and leaving it ready for transport.

This is a production-focused role measured on accuracy and pace. The Part-Time Order Selector works alongside the full-time selection team during the evening picking window, completes assigned orders within the scheduled shift, hands off the status of any remaining work before leaving, and contributes to the cleanliness and organization of the warehouse throughout the shift.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Order Selection & Building

  • Use the Encompass app to view assigned customer orders and follow pick paths to gather the correct products.
  • Build customer orders accurately and efficiently by staging, stacking, and wrapping product for delivery.
  • Double-check products and quantities to confirm that each order is complete and meets quality standards.
  • Handle all products with care to prevent damage, and report inventory shortages or discrepancies to a supervisor.

Shift Completion & Communication

  • Continue building orders through the end of the scheduled shift, working assignments in the priority set by the supervisor.
  • Verify completed work and communicate the status of any remaining assignments to a supervisor before clocking out.
  • Communicate with warehouse leads and supervisors to resolve issues or clarify order details rather than guessing.
  • Assist other selectors or breakers as needed so that all orders are completed on time.

Housekeeping, Equipment & Safety

  • Discard plastic wrap, broken pallets, and other waste materials in designated disposal areas throughout the shift.
  • Keep assigned work areas clean and organized, with aisles and exits kept clear.
  • Operate pallet jacks and other warehouse equipment safely and in accordance with company policy and training.
  • Follow all company safety, equipment, and personal protective equipment requirements, and report safety concerns to the supervisor immediately.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of warehouse operations.

Schedule & Compensation

  • Schedule: Monday – Thursday, either 3:00 PM – 9:00 PM or 4:00 PM – 10:00 PM. Start and end times can be adjusted within this window to work around your availability.
  • Hours: Approximately 24 hours per week. Actual hours may vary based on order volume and business needs.
  • Weekends Off: No Friday, Saturday, or Sunday shifts — giving you a three-day weekend every week.
  • Pay: $17.00 – $20.00 per hour, paid for all hours worked, with overtime paid at time and one-half for any hours worked over 40 in a workweek.
  • Paydays: Bi-weekly pay schedule with direct deposit.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Consistent availability to work an evening shift Monday through Thursday, plus availability to work an occasional Friday during holiday weeks or when the delivery schedule shifts, with reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and meet shift expectations without direct supervision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
  • Ability to operate, or be trained and certified to operate, a pallet jack.
  • Commitment to following safety procedures and maintaining a clean, organized work environment.
  • Must be able to pass a drug test and background check.

Preferred

  • Previous warehouse, order-picking, or order-selection experience.
  • Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with inventory systems; experience with Encompass is a plus.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds using proper handling techniques.
  • Stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, twist, and reach overhead throughout the shift.
  • Work in a temperature-controlled warehouse environment, with exposure to dust and noise.
  • Work an evening shift, with the majority of hours worked after 3:00 PM.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this position.
