Job description

Overview

Under direct faculty supervision, the Research Assistant provides clerical and research support to research projects in the School of Health Sciences. Job responsibilities may vary based on the needs of the research project and the Research Assistant's experience.

Responsibilities
  • Assisting in subject recruitment and screening.
  • Scheduling subject appointments.
  • Maintaining subject records and other confidential materials.
  • Performing literature searches and reviews on topics relevant to the research projects.
  • Assisting in developing data collection tools, such as survey or interview questions.
  • Assisting in preparing paperwork associated with research projects such as IRB applications.
  • Setting up for data collection, cleaning and storing equipment and supplies.
  • Assisting in data collection using methods such as survey administration, focus groups or individual interviews, or testing.
  • Managing and entering data on research software such as Qualtrics or SPSS.
  • Assisting in basic data analysis.
  • Writing summaries of the research findings and assisting in writing reports for publication.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education/ Experience

  • High School or GED Diploma, additional education (i.e., college-level courses) in a field related to the research topic area, knowledge of research methods and Bachelor's degree preferred

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize workload according to volume, urgency etc.
  • Ability to input data, and work with computer software programs
  • Familiarity with office equipment (phones, copiers, printers, scanners,)
  • Ability to learn and utilize new software and computer programs
  • Basic computation skills
  • Manage remote working schedules and interactions

  • Extensive time sitting and standing
  • Able to lift up to 5 lbs.
