Spanish Teacher - Temporary Leave Replacement

Contract type: temporary leave replacement

School Type: Boarding

Schedule: This is a temporary, part-time position starting around mid-November (before Thanksgiving Break) and ending in early April.

We're seeking a Spanish teacher who is passionate about language acquisition and cultural exploration, and who delights in guiding students as they build confidence in communication, engage in lively conversation, and deepen their understanding of the Spanish-speaking world. We seek an educator who brings experience, enthusiasm, and skill in teaching Spanish with a commitment to thoughtful curriculum design.

This position does not come with school provided housing.

What You'll Do

You'll be a teacher, mentor, and co-creator of learning. Your role will include:

  • Teaching one section of Spanish III, which meets (during regular 5-day weeks) on Mondays 8:00-9:05 a.m., Tuesdays 12:55-2:00 p.m., and Thursdays 11:15 a.m.-12:20 p.m. (Note: the schedule will shift during 4-day and 3-day weeks.)
  • The opportunity to also cover a section of Spanish I may be possible, depending on the candidate's interest and availability and the School's needs.
  • Giving meaningful, timely feedback that challenges and inspires
  • Collaborating with department colleagues

What We're Looking For

  • A degree in Spanish or a related, interdisciplinary field is essential
  • Native or near-native language skills in Spanish and English
  • Some experience teaching at the secondary level (2+ years preferred)
  • Ability to connect with diverse learners and teach inclusively
  • Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
  • Comfort with educational tech tools (Google Suite, etc.)
