Job Summary:
The Hotel Spa Massage Therapist is responsible for delivering professional, high-quality massage and body treatments to guests in a luxury spa setting. This role involves evaluating guests' needs, designing personalized treatment plans, and providing therapeutic, relaxing, and rejuvenating massages in a professional and welcoming environment. The ideal candidate is skilled in various massage techniques, knowledgeable about wellness therapies, and committed to providing exceptional customer service while upholding the spa's high standards.
Key Responsibilities
Massage & Wellness Services
  • Perform a variety of massage techniques and body treatments, including Swedish, deep tissue, hot stone, prenatal, and other specialized therapies, tailored to guests' needs.
  • Conduct consultations with guests to assess their individual needs, understand their preferences and goals and recommend appropriate therapies.
  • Customize treatments based on guest preferences, medical conditions, and contraindications.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of spa services, body treatments, and skincare products.
  • Educate guests on the benefits of massage therapy and recommend post-treatment care.
  • Adhere to draping protocols and professional ethics to ensure guest comfort and privacy.

Guest Experience & Customer Service
  • Greet guests warmly and conduct pre-treatment consultations to understand their needs.
  • Provide a tranquil and comfortable atmosphere for guests before, during, and after treatments.
  • Ensure a seamless and luxurious experience by delivering exceptional service.
  • Address guest inquiries and concerns professionally, adapting treatments as needed, and escalating to upper management for timely resolution.
  • Promote spa products and services to enhance guest wellness and relaxation.

Spa Operations & Cleanliness
  • Prepare treatment rooms with clean linens, oils, and necessary supplies before each session.
  • Sanitize all equipment and workspaces in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Follow hotel and spa protocols for cleanliness, hygiene, and infection control.
  • Keep track of inventory and notify management when supplies need replenishing.
  • Assist in maintaining an organized and serene spa environment.

Collaboration & Teamwork
  • Work closely with spa receptionists, estheticians, and other massage therapists to coordinate services and promote spa offerings while supporting special events.
  • Assist in scheduling appointments and managing treatment times effectively.
  • Support hotel wellness initiatives, events, and special spa promotions.
  • Contribute to a positive team environment by upholding spa standards and policies.
  • Stay updated on industry trends through ongoing education and training and participate in regular staff meetings.

Health & Safety Compliance
  • Follow all sanitation, disinfection, and hygiene protocols for guest safety.
  • Stay informed and knowledgeable about contraindications to provide safe and compliant treatments that align with health guidelines.
  • Adhere to all licensing and certification requirements for massage therapy.
  • Maintain accurate records of all guest treatments.

  • Follow all company policies, including time and attendance, meal and rest breaks, grooming and dress standards, and code of conduct.
  • Uphold professionalism by engaging with guests respectfully, demonstrating integrity, and delivering exceptional service.

Skills & Qualifications
  • A valid certificate of completion from a recognized massage therapy program and at least one year of experience, preferably in a spa, resort, or luxury hospitality setting preferred.
  • Proficiency in multiple massage techniques (e.g., Swedish, deep tissue, etc.).
  • Knowledge of human anatomy as well as demonstrated proficiency in various massage techniques, therapies, and modalities are essential.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills with a warm, professional demeanor.
  • Ability to upsell spa services and retail products while maintaining a guest-first approach.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Standing, bending, and performing massage treatments with precision and control for extended periods while ensuring safety, efficiency, and exceptional service.
  • Working in a calm, low-lit spa environment with soothing music and aromatherapy.
  • Exposure to heat, steam, massage oils, lotions, and essential oils.
  • Maintaining a professional, well-groomed appearance per spa standards.
  • Availability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.
