PT Recycle Attendant
CITY OF BARTLETT
PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT
SOLID WASTE DIVISION
RECYCLING ATTENDANT
SALARY $15.35 PER HOUR
THIS IS A PART-TIME POSITION WITHOUT BENEFITS.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Outside grounds maintenance.
  • Assist people with recycling at drop-off centers.
  • Travel to other unmanned drop-off centers to inspect and clean the area.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Must be able to drive pickup trucks and other vehicles.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Manager or Field supervisor of the Solid Waste Division, and Director or Assistant Director of Public Works.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics:
  • Knowledge of standard safety practices.
  • Ability to follow oral/written instructions.
  • Ability to communicate with co-workers.
  • Physical ability to perform essential job duties.

Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • The ability to read and write sentences with common vocabulary.

Special Requirements:
  • Must be able to drive and hold a valid Class D driver's license and to remain as condition of the continued employment.
  • Must pass a background screen, driver's license verification and physical exam, including a drug test.

Working Conditions:
  • May be required to work long hours ( overtime) in emergencies such as storms, debris removal, clearing roadways, and snow and ice removal.
  • Work outside exposed to extreme temperatures and inclement weather.
  • Frequently exposed to dust and occasionally to dampness and unsanitary conditions.
  • Subject to hazards of solid waste collection and construction work, equipment, and working around traffic.
  • Subject to excessive noise from equipment.
  • Subject to handling and breathing irritating substances.
  • Subject to heavy lifting, as much as 50lbs. a distance of four feet from ground and on occasion up to 100lbs., occasionally requires working in confined spaces.
  • Subject to excessive reaching, pulling, pushing, and feeling.
  • Requires the ability to ascend and descend ladders, structures, and equipment.
  • Requires crawling, bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching.
  • Requires sitting, or standing for long periods and extensive walking.
  • Must wear all safety equipment following safety regulations.
