Part Time Software Engineering Internships information

What is a part time software engineering internship?

Part time software engineering internships are temporary positions that allow students or early-career professionals to gain hands-on experience in software development while working fewer hours per week than a full-time internship. These roles typically involve working on real projects, collaborating with engineering teams, and learning new technologies, all while accommodating academic or personal schedules. Part time internships are ideal for those who want to balance work and other commitments, and they often serve as a stepping stone to full-time roles in the tech industry.

What types of projects and responsibilities can I expect as a part time software engineering intern?

As a part-time software engineering intern, you can expect to contribute to real-world projects such as debugging code, developing new features, writing automated tests, and assisting with software documentation. Interns often collaborate closely with full-time engineers and may participate in code reviews, team meetings, and sprint planning sessions. The work environment is typically supportive, with mentorship and feedback provided to help you learn and grow. Responsibilities may vary depending on the company's size and tech stack, but you'll gain hands-on experience relevant to your coursework and future career.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time software engineering intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time Software Engineering Intern, you typically need a foundational understanding of programming languages, problem-solving abilities, and current enrollment in a relevant degree program. Familiarity with version control systems like Git, basic software development tools, and sometimes exposure to specific frameworks or cloud platforms can be important. Strong communication, eagerness to learn, and teamwork are crucial soft skills that set standout interns apart. These skills and qualities are essential for effectively contributing to projects, adapting quickly, and gaining the most from the internship experience.

Job description

About Paragon Behavioral Health Connections

Paragon Behavioral Health Connections is a comprehensive behavioral health organization on a mission to positively impact individuals and families through compassionate, and client-centered care. Our mission is to deliver personalized care that uplifts our clients and builds supportive connections in communities. Through community based or in-home services, and digital solutions as needed, we meet clients where they are-both physically and emotionally-to provide the right support at the right time. Serving communities across Colorado, we deliver equitable and creative "one-stop" behavioral health services-providing in-home mental health and substance use treatment, crisis stabilization, early childhood support, intensive outpatient programs, assertive community treatment, medication management, wrap around support and more. We believe care should meet people where they are, both physically and emotionally. Our approach is rooted in understanding, respect, innovation, and community collaboration.

Our vision is to empower individuals and families with complex needs, helping them overcome challenges, build essential skills, and access the resources necessary to achieve long-term well-being. We offer a wide range of services, including step-down care from inpatient hospitalization for youth and adults, comprehensive support for children and families, and specialized treatment for adults facing depression, trauma, substance use, and other mental health needs.

Our programming includes intensive care management supports for families and adults, Crisis Stabilization programming, Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) for individuals diagnosed with serious mental illness, Child First for young children and caregivers, integrated co-occurring Intensive Outpatient treatment, individual and family therapy, medication management (including MAT), peer support, supported employment/housing, and holistic recovery services for mental health and substance use disorders.

Why Work With Paragon

  • Statewide Reach - Deliver care where it's needed most. We're not region-limited-serve communities across Colorado, including rural and frontier areas with limited access to care.
  • Flexibility & Work-Life Balance - Own your schedule. Partner with families to set visit times that work for them (and you), so you can enjoy Colorado's trails, slopes, and sunshine during off-peak hours.
  • Clinical Leadership & Support - Clinicians lead here. Our executive team includes licensed providers who shape business decisions with a care-first lens. We provide licensure supervision and regular consultation to support your growth as a clinician.
  • Career Growth Opportunities - Grow with us. Explore new modalities and specializations and advance into leadership as we expand statewide.

Position Overview

Paragon is seeking motivated graduate students in their 2nd year, to join our one-year paid clinical internship program. Interns gain hands-on experience across multiple service areas, receive free clinical supervision toward licensure, and make a meaningful impact in the lives of children, families, and individuals in crisis.

Program Structure

Rotation Phase (Weeks 1-8)

Interns spend two weeks in each of the four tracks to gain broad clinical exposure:

  • Admissions
  • Child & Family Services
  • Crisis Services
  • Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Placement Phase (Remainder of Year)

Following the rotation, interns are placed in one department for the remainder of the year based on fit and interest.

Paragon provides clinical supervision at no cost to the intern. This supervision counts toward state licensure requirements, offering significant professional and financial value.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a 2nd-year graduate program in Psychology, Social Work, or Human Services
  • Strong commitment to working with diverse populations in a community behavioral health setting
  • Ability to work 17-22 hours per week for a full year

Compensation: $20.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • Flexible Schedule
  • Part-Time (17-22 hours per week)

Diversity & Inclusion

Paragon Behavioral Health Connections is committed to creating a diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace. We strongly encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds, identities, and lived experiences.
