Job description

Best Buy is seeking a talented individual to join our team as a Senior Engineer for cloud microservices implementation within Services IT organization supporting large product order fulfillment. The In-Home Order Fulfillment (IHOF) team is responsible for building and supporting the application portfolio which enable scheduling of in-home delivery, installation, and repair services provided by Best Buy and our partners across all selling channels.
Our mission is to build and evolve modern, scalable platforms that power seamless and intuitive customer experiences across every interaction with Best Buy. Within the IHOF engineering team, you will lead a continuous modernization journey, driving the evolution from legacy systems to cloud-native, event-driven architectures. This includes shaping resilient, observable, and cost-efficient solutions, while leveraging data and automation to improve system performance and delivery outcomes. We operate with a product mindset, embracing experimentation, rapid iteration, and engineering excellence to meet dynamic business demands and enable best-in-class in-home scheduling, routing, and fulfillment capabilities.
In this role, you'll primarily work virtually from home or another nonBest Buy location. However, you must live within a drivable distance to our corporate campus in Richfield, Minnesota. The specific work arrangements vary by role and team, and the recruiter or hiring manager will provide additional details during the hiring process.
What you'll do
  • Develop and architect features built in a Distributed CQRS, Event Sourced, Microservice Architecture using Java Spring
  • Use of Agentic AI as core development/coding tool
  • Participate in the creation and presentation of technical designs
  • Lead in the delivery of complex solutions
  • Active participant in planning activities. Contributes to strategic planning
  • Anticipates technical issues at the product level and makes architectural and design decisions to avoid them
  • Leads and effectively manages the triage complex issues across systems in both production and locally
  • Demonstrates creativity and takes initiative in solving complex problems
  • Plans delivery of coarse-grained business needs spanning multiple applications
  • Influence technical peers outside the team or project in some areas. Such as introducing new frameworks and patterns through their work
  • Makes others better through code reviews, thorough documentation, technical guidance, and mentoring or serving as a Tech Lead on a project
  • Works independently under project objectives
Basic qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field OR equivalent combination of education and/or experience
  • 3+ years of related work experience as a Software Engineer or Software Developer
  • 2+ years of experience building event driven architecture.
  • 2+ years of experience with Microservice patterns and event driven design
  • 1+ years of experience with cloud native development
  • Experience with Application Management and/or Agile product delivery
  • Experience developing solutions using testing and CICD automation tools
