What does the Cheekwood Guest Services Team do and why join?


The Guest Services team is responsible for ensuring that visitors have a positive and smooth experience at Cheekwood. The duties for this department are focused on providing excellent customer service, managing operations, and maintaining a welcoming environment. Joining the Guest Services team at Cheekwood, offers the opportunity to be at the forefront of a vibrant cultural and natural landmark in Nashville. You will play a key role in creating memorable experiences for guests, engaging with a diverse audience, and learning about art and horticulture.

What will you be doing?

At Cheekwood, team members in Guest Services will provide information about the estate’s history, programming, and exhibitions, while also promoting membership opportunities. Staff members keep up with on-site events, handle inquiries via phone, email, and chat, and ensure that all guest services areas are clean and organized. They also assist with traffic management, maintain accurate records, and enforce garden guidelines to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all visitors.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome and greet all guests upon arrival to Cheekwood often while scanning tickets, collecting admission fees, and explaining the benefits of Cheekwood Membership while providing exemplary customer service.
  • Orient and share information with guests on the estate grounds, estate history, Historic Mansion and Museum of Art, and concurring programming/exhibitions.
  • Keep up to date with current events and exhibitions. May attend docent meetings and training courses to stay current on an as-needed basis.
  • Answer incoming phone calls, e-mails, and online chats in an efficient and pleasant manner with the ability to inform guests of event times, prices, etc. as well as solving ticketing questions and issues.
  • Ensure that guests have access to different pamphlets and handouts, keeping them replenished as needed.
  • Assist in the set-up, closing, organization, and cleanliness of all Guest Services locations.
  • Possess a basic understanding of Altru or current ticketing software to perform daily sales, advance sales, and membership sales.
  • Actively promote and sell memberships, processing renewals and new memberships as needed.
  • Monitor all incoming and exiting traffic. Directing guests, staff, vendors, deliveries, and business clients to appropriate sites; notifying security when necessary.
  • Track and report all data thoroughly and accurately, including all information collected (i.e. cash, credit card, membership forms, demographics data, guest attendance, etc.)
  • Offer concierge-like services for guests interested in other Nashville attractions and venues.
  • With security, help to enforce Cheekwood’s guidelines and rules for the property, the Historic Mansion, and the Museum of Art. Help to monitor all areas of the garden to ensure that problems are reported and fixed.
  • Immediately inform Supervisor and Security of incidents that need to be addressed
  • Assist in providing shift breaks to other Guest Services Representatives.
  • Perform other projects as needed.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous retail sales/customer service experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service abilities.
  • Critical thinking and observation skills, in addition to decision making skills.
  • Time management and self-motivation abilities.
  • Operate a ticketing system and ability to efficiently use computer programs and applications.
  • Work productively in an instructed environment with frequent interruptions. Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evening, weekend, and holiday season hours required with minimum availability of 20 hours per week.
