Job description

This position is responsible for leading the development, coordination, and successful completion of engineering projects while supporting the growth and development of engineering initiatives. The role analyzes key area metrics to identify improvement opportunities, prioritize projects, and ensure project milestones and deadlines are achieved.
This position also provides technical guidance and training related to the design, testing, and implementation of mechanical components, equipment, and machinery within the Linear Motion facility. Using sound engineering principles, the role conducts studies and develops solutions involving products, equipment, controls, robotics, automation, and manufacturing processes. The position works cross-functionally with Production, Maintenance, Scheduling, Engineering, and Management to improve safety, quality, efficiency, equipment reliability, and overall operational performance.

Major Responsibilities
  • Instructionโ€”Support all company policies and engineering procedures; as well as follow the instructions and completing tasks provided by direct leadership members. Lead projects, research, and tests in finding solutions to improve current production methods. Conduct studies to maximize workflow, machine and personnel utilization, and spatial utilization.
  • Work Areaโ€”Maintain a neat and orderly working environment to ensure safety of each member and efficiency of production along with the training of 5-S expectations of engineering and the engineering areas.
  • Operationsโ€”Be able to obtain and train a working knowledge of the current infrastructure and operation(s) of process and equipment (including operation sheets, process, methods, testing, and standards)
  • Researchโ€”Research solutions and vendors for solutions to current manufacturing bourdons while also staying relevant to new technologies and solutions.
  • Planning and Implementationโ€”Set area project timelines, deliverable deadlines, and monitor and summarize progress of projects
  • Supportโ€” Assist in the coordination of tasks and solutions needed to achieve manufacturing goals; including assisting area engineers and other departments to achieve manufacturing goals.
  • Training โ€”Have the ability to extensively train on implemented systems at the production, engineering, and quality levels.
  • Reporting and Documentationโ€”Prepare reports for engineering department and upper management regarding projects and improvements. Assist in the preparation of engineering project proposals, monitor, and communicate project status, business issues, and significant developments. Be able to train other engineers on proper reporting and documentation.
  • Communication- Communicate at all levels. Participate in contractor meetings and provide a summary of the status of area projects to the engineering team and project stakeholders.
  • Budgeting โ€“ Upon development of recommended solutions be able to create accurate budgets for implementation of systems as well as possible ROI for solutions.
  • Culture โ€“ Develop a culture that supports the engineering goals and drives for project completion, project time management, personal time management, and customer focused solutions.
Background Requirements
  • Associateโ€™s or Bachelorโ€™s degree in a related field preferred. Candidates currently working toward a related degree are encouraged to apply.
  • Working knowledge of CAD software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems and circuitry.
