Security Officer – Job Responsibilities-Monte Vista
Shift: Graveyard. Part time.1. Patrol and Property Security
  • Conduct scheduled patrols of parking lots, common areas, mall entrances/exits, loading docks, service corridors, perimeter areas, dumpster locations, and adjacent properties.

  • Inspect doors, gates, fences, lighting, and access points for security or safety concerns.

  • Complete all required QR checkpoint scans from the assigned location during every patrol.

  • Perform both interior and exterior patrols where applicable.

2. Access Control
  • Monitor and prevent unauthorized access to the property.

  • Lock and unlock designated areas according to site schedules.

  • Control tenant and authorized personnel access through designated entry points.

  • Report unsecured doors, forced entry, or signs of tampering immediately.

3. Emergency Response
  • Respond promptly to medical emergencies, fire alarms, vandalism, trespassing, shoplifting, and other security incidents.

  • Contact 911 immediately when police, fire, or emergency medical services are required.

  • Assist with evacuations and guide emergency responders to the incident location.

  • Coordinate with local law enforcement when necessary.

4. Incident Reporting and Documentation
  • Accurately document all patrol activities, observations, and incidents in Daily Activity Reports (DARs) and Incident Reports (IRs).

  • Record all relevant details using the Six Facts (Who, What, When, Where, How, and Witnesses).

  • Take timestamped photographs of patrols, incidents, hazards, and property damage.

  • Submit reports and photos through Viber as required.

5. Safety and Hazard Monitoring
  • Identify and report unsafe conditions including spills, leaks, damaged property, exposed wiring, fire hazards, unsecured areas, and blocked exits.

  • Monitor for suspicious activity, graffiti, vandalism, homeless activity, and trespassing.

  • Ensure all hazards are documented and reported to Dispatch and site management.

6. Customer Service
  • Provide courteous assistance to tenants and visitors.

  • Assist with vehicle-related issues, provide directions, manage lost-and-found items, and verify authorization before granting roof or restricted area access.

  • Maintain a professional and respectful demeanor at all times.

7. Communication
  • Maintain regular communication with Dispatch and respond to scheduled safety checks.

  • Keep the company phone active and answer calls professionally.

  • Use Viber and other company applications for operational communication and reporting.

  • Immediately notify management of emergencies, security breaches, or significant incidents.

8. Compliance and Accountability
  • Report to duty using approved company timekeeping procedures.

  • Wear the complete company uniform and maintain a professional appearance.

  • Follow company vehicle policies and complete required vehicle inspections when assigned.

  • Adhere to all company policies regarding breaks, cell phone usage, and post assignments.

  • Remain at the assigned post until properly relieved.

9. Professional Conduct
  • Maintain honesty and integrity while performing all assigned duties.

  • Never falsify patrol records, QR scans, timestamps, or reports.

  • Remain alert and avoid sleeping on duty.

  • Protect company equipment and surveillance systems from misuse or tampering.

  • Follow all company disciplinary policies and security procedures.

10. Shift Handover
  • Provide a complete briefing to the incoming officer regarding ongoing incidents, unresolved issues, and pending tasks.

  • Ensure continuity of security operations between shifts.

11. Crime Prevention
  • Observe and report criminal or suspicious activity without placing personal safety at risk.

  • Maintain a safe distance from suspects and never attempt to detain or pursue individuals.

  • Notify law enforcement and Dispatch immediately when criminal activity is observed.

  • Follow private and public property procedures when dealing with trespassers or suspicious persons.
