Description
This position is classified as safety-sensitive under the U.S. Department of Transportation drug and alcohol testing regulations and the Oklahoma Standards for Workplace Drug and Alcohol Testing Act. As a safety-sensitive employee, you are subject to drug and alcohol testing, including random testing. Marijuana is included in the testing panel. Possession of a medical marijuana card does not exempt an employee from testing requirements or disciplinary action for a positive result
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSTION
Under the general supervision of the DRC Facility Manager, the DRC Shuttle Driver is a part-time position with the main responsibility to transport seniors from locations to and from the Dale Robertson Center. The Shuttle Driver is responsible for coordinating routes, assisting members on and off the bus and providing exceptional customer service. The position also requires occasionally working after hour evening and weekend rentals, programs and special events.
Examples of Duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Safely operate City vehicles (14-passenger van).
  • Assist senior citizens with wheelchairs or walkers on and off the shuttle.
  • Communicate effectively in person or on the phone.
  • Assist senior citizens with carrying groceries.
  • Must possess great people skills and deliver great customer service.
  • Maintain a clean work environment and perform janitorial duties at the facility as needed.
  • Applicant must be able to work on a team and be willing to take direction.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies, safety incidents, or conflicts, following department protocols, independently.
  • Maintain communication with the DRC Facility Manager regarding operational updates or issues.
  • Remain compliant with department policies and safety regulations.
  • Handle public inquiries, complaints, or concerns in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Availability to work City events, DRC events and special trips.
  • This is not inclusive of all duties and responsibilities. All employees are expected to also complete other duties as assigned.

Typical Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Provide a valid Oklahoma Driver's License.
  • Must submit a clean driving record annually.
  • Must be able to drive a 14-passenger van on highways and downtown.
  • Must a a responsible and safe driver.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be compassionate and comfortable working around seniors.
  • Knowledge of safety policies, practices and procedures regarding transportation.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to make decisions using food judgement and assume responsibility for their impact.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Experience in customer relations is a plus. Applicant must be 18 years of age or older.
Supplemental Information
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is primarily performed inside and outside. Employee must be comfortable working with mid-level noise from traffic and operation of van. The position is exposure to varying weather conditions.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk or hear; and frequently required to stand, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, taste or smell; occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and ability to adjust focus.
Ability to respond quickly to emergencies or facility issues.
SUPERVISION
Under close supervision of the DRC Facility Manager and is subject to review and direction from the Assistant Parks and Recreation Director or their designee.
