Job description

Basketball Instructor (Rainier Beach Community Center)
Associated Recreation Council (ARC), in partnership with Seattle Parks and Recreation, is seeking a qualified Basketball Instructor to teach youth basketball classes at Rainier Beach.
This position focuses on teaching fundamental basketball skills in a positive, structured, and inclusive environment.
Status: Part-time, Seasonal (March - November)
Work Schedule: Mondays, 4:15 p.m. - 6:45 p.m.
Desired Start Date: March 23, 2026

Basketball Instructor Responsibilities:
  • Instruct participants in fundamental basketball skills, including dribbling, passing, shooting, and defense
  • Lead drills and skill-building activities
  • Supervise participants and maintain a safe and positive learning environment
  • Set up and clean up equipment and activity areas
  • Communicate effectively with ARC staff and site supervisors
  • Follow ARC and Seattle Parks and Recreation policies and procedures

Basketball Instructor Qualifications:
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Experience coaching or instructing basketball in a recreational, school, or community setting
  • Experience working with children or youth
  • Ability to manage groups in a positive and supportive manner

Pay:
  • Starting Pay: $23.00 - $25.00/ hr
  • Full Pay Range: $23.00-33.00/hr (employee may earn up to $33.00/hr with continued employment)
