Job description

Oneida Health is currently seeking a part-time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to care for residents during the night shift (7p-7a) at our Rehabilitation and Extended Care Facility. In this role, you will be responsible for the daily care of residents in collaboration with the Unit Manager and under the supervision of the Registered Nurse and Physician. You will oversee the activities performed by CNAs and Ward Clerks on the unit and use excellent judgment to make independent decisions when necessary while staying in close communication with the Registered Nurse and other supervisors. Our ideal candidate will have a customer service attitude when interacting with residents and families as well as an excellent work ethic and highly-developed communications skills.

*Starting Rate: $26.50

**Shift Differential: Day - $1.50, Evening - $2.05, Night - $2.45

What You’ll be Great At:

  • Providing compassionate care and treatment to the residents with a customer service attitude.
  • Working as a team player with all members of the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) such as Physicians, RNs, UMs, CNAs, and Ward Clerks.
  • Using sound nursing judgment to evaluate and observe changes in resident situations or reactions to medications and treatments.
  • Communicating quickly and clearly with Registered Nurses and Physicians if there are changes in a resident’s situation.
  • Showing leadership when delegating assignments and observing support staff are providing appropriate care according to treatment plans.
  • Having attention to detail when ordering medications and supplies, preparing equipment, observing and charting residents’ vital signs, and assisting with wound rounds and dressing wounds.
  • Providing a clean and healthy environment for our residents whether in the dining room or regarding their personal hygiene.
  • Scheduling resident appointments with the assistance of the ward clerk and notifying families about appointments and transportation.
  • Inputting orders into the computer system, notifying the pharmacy, and performing accurate record-keeping to report incidents, errors, or accidents.
  • Attending daily meetings as directed by the Unit Manager/Supervisor and participating in resident/family care meetings, IDT, and discharge meetings.
  • Complying with policy and procedures related to controlled substances, narcotic count, and documentation.
  • Notifying appropriate staff of building emergencies or concerns such as fire, security concerns, or breakdown in any major system (plumbing, power, etc.) in a timely manner.
  • Reporting resident incidents regarding suspected abuse, neglect, mistreatment, and exploitation.
