Job description


Responsible for performing the technical tasks involved with the storage, distribution, packaging and labeling of drugs. Assists pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining the drug inventory, maintaining patient records, and completing required documentation of work. Works under the direct supervision of the pharmacist, must have an excellent working knowledge of drug names, dosages, dosage forms and the procedures for the preparation and calculations of dosage forms.
Qualifications
Work requires a High School diploma or equivalent, Associate's degree preferred, hospital pharmacy experience preferred. Certification by an organization recognized by the New Jersey Board of Pharmacy required, new hires have one year from date of hire to become certified. Registration by the Board of Pharmacy as a Registered Pharmacy Technician required. Ability to perform work accurately with attention to detail within specified time periods. Ability to handle and adapt to frequent directives, interruptions, and changes in workload and work schedule. Work requires 20 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) annually as approved by Pharmacy Management. Work requires staffing a minimum of 4 shifts per month on weekends and/or weekdays to meet the needs of the department.
