Description
Duties and Responsiblities
• Receives all special event applications and initiates the departmental approval process
• Maintains a thorough knowledge of the City's Special Event Ordinance and recommend changes to the Emergency Management Coordinator
• Answers inquiries from event organizers in a timely manner
• Receives all Tier II Hazardous Materials reports, uploads and manages the Hazardous Materials database
• Assists with development and maintenance of plans and procedures, including but not limited to: Event Action Plans, Incident Action Plans, and Emergency Operations Plans and associated annexes
• Assists with the conduct of training and exercises to evaluate the readiness and effectiveness of the City's emergency response capabilities
• Assists with Emergency Operations Center activation as directed by the Emergency Management Coordinator
• Conducts administrative tasks including, but not limited to, records maintenance, composition of reports, and meeting minutes
Requirements
Education and Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent required with experience in Emergency Management or a closely related field is preferred. Completion of the FEMA Basic Academy preferred within one year of employment.
The following FEMA Independent Study Courses are required for employment:
• IS-100.c - Introduction to the Incident Command System
• IS-200.c - Basic Incident Command System for Initial Response
• IS-700.b - An Introduction to the National Incident Management System
• IS-800.d - National Response Framework, An Introduction
• IS-0015.b - Special Events Contingency Planning for Public Safety Agencies
Other recommended courses:
