The Department of Environmental Quality is looking to fill an Environmental Scientist position in the Hazardous Waste Cleanup Section of the Division of Waste Management & Radiation Control. This position may be filled at any of the advertised levels listed below. Salary depends on the job level offered within the series.
Key Responsibilities- Project Manager for Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) corrective action.
- Evaluate and provide technical reviews of field investigation work plans and reports.
- Conduct field oversight.
- Evaluate and provide technical reviews of groundwater sampling and monitoring data.
- Evaluate and provide technical reviews of corrective action work plans and reports.
- Evaluate and provide technical reviews of remedial activities for closure and post closure.
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:- 3-5 years'experience in RCRA correctiveaction (or equivalent programs).
- Experience with site characterization ofvarious media (soil, groundwater, air) and multiple chemicals (organic andinorganic); sampling experience.
- Experience in selecting and evaluating of the efficacy ofcorrective measures and remedial alternatives.
- Experience in evaluating groundwater data andassessment, groundwater plumes, and trends.
- Experience with closure and post closure.
Preferred Qualifications: - Bachelor's of Science in science-related field (or equivalent workexperience).
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER, preferred but not required.
- Professional Geologist (PG) license preferred but not required.
Job seriesThe selected candidate for this position may be brought in as an Environmental Scientist I with a salary range of $25.27 - $37.95 per hour, an Environmental Scientist II with a salary range of $29.73 - $44.66 per hour, or an Environmental Scientist III with a salary range of $34.98 - $52.56 per hour.
