Part Time Instructor - Chemistry
The Blinn College District is searching for a Part Time Instructor - Chemistry at our Bryan Campus.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities are listed below:
Job Summary
Teaches chemistry courses as scheduled.
Principal Accountabilities
• Provides instruction for courses at a variety of times and locations.
• Demonstrates a commitment to student engagement, student success, andinstructional excellence.
• Maintains access to students through posted offi ce hours and electroniccommunication.
• Prepares and utilizes a course syllabus and assessments for each courseusing guidelines established by the institution.
• Maintains current knowledge of effective teaching methodologies andutilizes a variety of instructional delivery methods, classroom media, andeducational resources.
• Advises students in academic matters.
• Evaluates students' performance through a variety of means to measureprogress and keep them informed in a timely manner.
• Assists in the development, distribution and collection of assessments forcourses and program objectives.
• Provides recommendations to the Academic Dean, Assistant Dean,Department Heads, and Curriculum Resource Team regarding curriculum.• Demonstrates a positive and professional relationship with students,colleagues, college administration, and the community.
• Submits timely college reports and forms to the appropriatedivisions/departments.
• Exhibits a commitment to lifelong learning through participation inprofessional development activities.
• Possesses a passion for teaching community college students.
• Demonstrates effective communication skills, both written and oral.
• Attends college orientation and required institutional meetings.
• Responsible for other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications/ Required Degree, License or CertificationsMasters degree in chemistry or a Masters degree in closely related area with minimum of 18 graduate credit-hours in chemistry
Minimum CompetenciesKnowledge of introductory, general, and engineering chemistry topics and laboratory activities.
Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D. in Chemistry
Preferred Competencies
Experience teaching online or blended courses
College teaching experience
Experience using D2L learning management system
