Job Duties
Science isn't our only priority here at the Science Museum of Virginia, we also make memories. Join our team as a Part-Time Security Officer and help create unforgettable experiences! Our diverse offerings range from world-class exhibits to special events like weddings, galas, and corporate functions. We also host educational content and fun-filled weekends for families.
As a member of the security team, you will contribute to a welcoming and secure environment for guests, event attendees, and staff. Your presence will be integral in maintaining safety and security during special events, exhibitions, and daily operations. You'll be a friendly face who engages with visitors, while also keeping a vigilant eye to ensure the safety of all.
This essential position requires flexibility to work hours within the following shifts: work 4:00PM to midnight on weekday evenings and have the availability to work a range of shifts between 7:00 AM to midnight on the weekends. Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate will have security experience working in a multi-level, high-volume customer-focused venue. Ability to follow oral and written instructions, and to communicate clearly across multiple platforms. Experience working with a diverse public, and in a dynamic environment. Sufficient strength, agility and stamina to patrol our 18-acre campus, on foot and under all weather conditions. Demonstrated experience with coordinating with emergency services or law enforcement and to clearly, calmly and distinctly report an emergency requiring assistance. Must be able to take initiative to resolve security or safety issues while remaining calm and level-headed. Fluency in Google Workspace and a valid driver's license are required. Must be available to work days, holidays, evenings and weekends.
Additional Considerations
Spanish fluency is a plus. CPR certification is a plus.
