Job Description

Hello! We are Premier Academy Walnut, a tutoring center committed to providing students with an enriching, well-rounded experience to help them achieve their academic goals. As we continue to grow, we are looking for passionate and dedicated individuals to join our team and contribute to our mission.
Expectations

As a private AP Chemistry & Physics tutor, you are expected to be proficient in the core concepts and exam formats of both subjects, including:
  • ย Cell structure and function, cellular energetics, genetics and information transfer, natural selection and evolution, ecology, and biological systems interactions.
  • AP Chemistry: atomic structure, chemical bonding, stoichiometry, thermodynamics, kinetics, equilibrium, and lab-based problem solving
  • AP Physics (1 & 2 or C): mechanics, electricity and magnetism, waves, and data analysis aligned with College Board requirements
  • ย AP Biology: You should also be familiar with AP Biology lab investigations, data analysis, and free-response question strategies, as outlined by the College Board curriculum framework.
  • AP Environmental Science: Key topics such as ecosystems, biodiversity, population dynamics, earth systems, resource use, pollution, and climate change

What Weโ€™re Looking For in a Teacher:

  • Demonstrates strong work ethic: well-organized, well-prepared, and punctual.
  • Ability to develop and implement engaging lesson plans.

  • Ability to build meaningful relationships and mentor students effectively.
  • Long-term commitment (for the full school year or summer session).

  • At least 2+ years of teaching or tutoring experience.
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree or higher in a relevant field.
  • Bonus Qualifications:
    • CBEST certification or a primary/secondary teaching credential.
    • Experience with the Walnut Valley Unified School District (WVUSD).
Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 instruction (maximum of 1:3 students, though most sessions will be 1:1).
  • Develop and implement customized lesson plans, tailored to individual studentsโ€™ needs.
  • Assign and review homework and quizzes as appropriate.
  • Keep detailed records of tutoring sessions using Premier-provided forms.
  • Motivate students by setting clear expectations, conducting progress checks, and offering regular feedback.
  • Submit periodic progress reports for each student.
  • Collaborate with the Campus Director to address and improve studentsโ€™ academic progress.
