Job Description
ESM Prep is seeking energetic, engaging, and kind tutors in the Miami metro area to support their students holistically as mentors. The majority of our students will be located in and around Miami Beach and Coconut Grove. The tutor in this position will assist students one-on-one in preparing for college by supporting them through academic tutoring, readying them for the AP exams, SAT/ACT Testing, and mentoring them through their overall high school academic journey.
We call our tutors Mentors because we prioritize the holistic development of each of our students. All applicants should be passionate about working with youth and should have previous experience tutoring, teaching, and/or coaching.
Job Requirements
  • Prior experience teaching or tutoring AP-level Math/Science, SAT/ACT Test Prep, or both (willingness to complete our paid test prep training is a major plus if you only teach AP STEM). Candidates must be living in or near the Miami area and able to consistently commute to in-person, in-home sessions in Miami Beach and Coconut Grove surrounding areas, even though many students will be remote.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Available for part-time, consistent placement throughout the full school year or longer.
  • Tutoring hours primarily occur during weekday evenings (after 3:00 PM) and/or on weekends. Typical weekly availability is Sunday-Thursday. Sunday availability is required.
  • Prior experience teaching the ACT/SAT, or a willingness to complete our advanced paid test prep training, is a major asset that will immediately open up expanded student roster opportunities.

Compensation/Benefits:
  • Wage: $60-$70/hr (remote academic tutoring in high school subjects starts at $60/hr, while remote test prep tutoring starts at $70/hr)
  • A bonus of +$10 per hour is applied for any in-person work
  • Additional compensation for training and administrative functions
  • Flexible schedule
  • Pathway to full-time - based on experience, performance, and subject range
  • Employee discount program

What to expect in the hiring process:
  • Resume screening by Talent Team (reviewing for professionalism, clear communication skills, and purposeful involvement that indicates mentorship potential).
  • Content area-specific quiz(s) (10-25 minutes, used to verify satisfactory initial content knowledge in relevant areas).
  • Informational Interview with a Talent Team member (30 minutes, focused on core values alignment, availability, and expectations).
  • Roleplay Tutoring Interview with a Tutor Manager (45-60 minutes, designed to assess instructional effectiveness, teaching style, and student interaction).

Diversity and Inclusion:
We believe that diversity and inclusion enrich education and drive success. We are committed to ensuring that all people who interact with ESM Prep--parents, students, staff, contractors, partners, vendors--are respected and valued holistically. We are committed to attracting and retaining students and staff from diverse cultures, backgrounds, and experiences because we believe that diversity fuels innovation and education to new heights.
