Get to Know Your Team: 

  • Hillcrest Medical Center is a 656-bed hospital that includes The Alexander Burn Center, The Peggy V. Helmerich Women’s Health Center, Kaiser Rehabilitation Center, the latest technology for the treatment of cancer, and the Oklahoma Heart Institute.
  • Under the supervision of the Coordinator, the Outpatient Wound Care RN performs the primary function of Registered Nurse in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the care of patients.
  • The Outpatient Wound Care RN is a licensed caregiver who practices in a competent manner, upholds the voice of the patient, system policies and procedures while supporting service excellence goals in the clinical environment that employs a shared governance model.
  • The RN serves as a partner in care anticipating and providing for the patient care needs of patients, families and significant others.

Job Requirements:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited education program
  • RN license to practice in the state of Oklahoma
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care
  • Ability to identify and classify types of wounds
  • Ability to verbalize understanding of each dressing and which wounds they are appropriate for
  • Demonstrated knowledge of proper technique for various common compression therapies
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the proper technique for application of total contact casts and proper removal of total contact casts
  • Ability to perform lower extremity assessments

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1 year of wound care experience
