Job description

Description:

Part-time Position: Scheduled 40 hours per pay period (2-weeks) typically 20 hour per week.

Shifts: 5:30-10:30pm shifts - includes weekend shifts weekly


Under general supervision, the Custodial Worker 1 performs routine manual and unskilled work in the performance of a variety of custodial and cleaning tasks in and around Overture Center. Work is performed according to established methods and routines.

Roles & Responsibilities

· General custodial tasks. Sweeps, mops floors and stairs; cleans glass; empties trash; sorts recyclables; dusts; vacuums carpeting; cleans toilets, sinks, stone surfaces; polishes brass and chrome; maintains wood, vinyl composition, rubber and stone floors, removes snow. Operates all types of custodial riding and walk-behind equipment.

· Moves furniture, sets up and arranges rooms.

· Cleans and spot cleans carpets. Maintains carpet areas by vacuuming, extraction, and roto.

· Performs general maintenance and security tasks. Checks and secures building doors and rooms. Answers HVAC (Heating, Venting, Air Conditioning) security and fire alarms at the Building Automation System (BAS). Turns fans on and off at BAS. Performs routine checking of boiler and HVAC system operation. Manages building safety and security during shift. Fills out maintenance repair forms and reports on building problems during shift. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Education & Experience:

· High school diploma/GED

· 0-2 years relevant training and/or experience

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

· Knowledge of the materials, equipment, and methods commonly employed in building cleaning operations

· Knowledge of cleaning devices and of their care and maintenance requirements

· Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and to perform assigned tasks without close supervision

· Ability to perform heavy manual work when necessary, and to withstand long hours of work

· Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with patrons, employees, and other building users

· Ability to communicate effectively

· Ability to read, write and speak English
