The UHealth system at the University ofMiami has an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician - Per Diem at our UHealth Deerfield location. The Pharmacy Technician - Per Diem compounds and dispenses medical prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist. Moreover, an employee in this position performs clerical duties relating to the department, receives and stores incoming supplies. The Pharmacy Technician - Per Diem also verifies stock and enters data into the computer to maintain accurate and complete inventory records.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Weighs, counts, measures, and mixes medication.
2. Handles inventory to ensure that the pharmacy is appropriately stocked.
3. Receives written prescription, fills prescriptions or refill requests, and verifies that information is complete and accurate.
4. Answers telephones and responds to questions or requests.
5. Fills bottles with prescribed medications, and types and affixes labels.
6. Assists customers by answering simple questions, locating items, and referring them to the appropriate staff.
7. Establishes and maintains patient profiles and records.
8. Transfers medication from vials to the appropriate number of sterile and disposable syringes using aseptic techniques.
9. Supplies and monitors robotic machines that dispense medicine into containers.
10. Prepares and processes medical insurance claim forms and handles insurance claim records.
11. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
