Purpose/Summary
Community College of Denver is seeking individuals with demonstrated commitment to creating an inclusive learning and work environment. CCD values the ability to work effectively with students, families, faculty, instructors and staff of diverse backgrounds.
GENERAL SUMMARY
The Adjunct Instructor for CAD will be responsible for the course design and instruction initially and primarily focused on one or more of the following courses:
CAD 1101/CAD 1102 AutoCAD, and/or CAD 2220/CAD 2221 Revit but may also include several other CAD-prefixed courses within the Architectural Technology program.
This is a part-time position. This is an open pool posting for current and potential future adjunct needs in CAD. Applications will be reviewed as departmental needs arise.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Adjunct Instructor for these courses will design the specific course curriculum, grading system, and assignments for CAD 1102 AutoCAD and others as agreed. These Course Descriptions and Course Learning Outcomes can be found at
the Common Course Numbering System CCNS Website.
These Courses are conducted over either a 7.5 week or 15-week Part of Term and will include the provision of regular office hours for students outside of class meeting hours per the requirements of the Faculty Handbook. Course sections may be daytime or evening; schedule determination as to meeting days and times will be subject to negotiation with the Candidate based on availability. Preference will be given to candidates who have some availability to teach daytime courses. This position will conform to the Departmental requirements for attendance and participation in departmental meetings and required trainings.
  • Teach at least one section of one of these courses every Fall and Spring semester. Preference will be given to candidates who may be able to teach more than one course per semester or who may be able to teach a Summer semester course section.
  • Work with other instructors and Co-Chair to coordinate their content with other courses in the Program.
  • Attend Departmental meetings twice a year (beginning of each semester).

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any equivalent combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Education:(Minimum/Required)
A Candidate for this Position must hold a Bachelor of Science in Architecture, Industrial Design, Engineering, or closely related field that employs the identified range of digital applications.
In lieu of a bachelor's degree in one of these fields, a related industry certificate or occupational experience of at least 4,000 hours of documented work in the field is acceptable. These occupational hours may be considered as an equivalent for the educational credentials identified above provided they have been accrued over a period no more distant than seven years prior to the date of application.
In certain cases where the occupational experience is older than 7 years from the date of application, the relevant occupational experience may be ascertained through specific evaluation of occupational experience quality, currency, and relevance by the supervising chair, including when the degree was issued, and if nationally recognized certifications remain current.
Experience: (Minimum/Required)
2000 hours minimum of documented professional work experience if the Candidate holds a Bachelor's degree or higher; 4000 hours of documented professional work experience is required if the Candidate holds an Associate-level degree.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: (Minimum/Required)
  • An ability to organize, direct, and mentor a class of diverse students with a broad range of learning abilities; Demonstrable competency in utilizing electronic and remote presentation techniques.
  • Demonstrable skills in interpreting and conveying complex and non-intuitive concepts to others.
  • Demonstrable proficiency in the software applications related to the Courses listed (AutoCAD or Revit).

Adjunct Instructors
Adjunct instructors and variable hour employees will have their hours measured on an annual basis to determine eligibility to enroll in medical health insurance for the following benefit period. Information regarding benefits can be found at
