What are part time remote jobs?

Part time remote jobs are positions that allow employees to work fewer hours than a full-time schedule—typically less than 30-35 hours per week—from a location outside the traditional office, such as their home or another remote location. These jobs span various industries, including customer service, writing, tech support, and data entry. Part time remote roles offer flexibility in terms of work hours and location, making them popular among students, parents, and those seeking work-life balance. Employers may require regular check-ins or set work schedules, but the key benefit is the ability to complete job tasks without commuting to a physical office. These positions often utilize digital tools for communication and collaboration.

What are some effective strategies for staying productive and maintaining communication when working part time in a remote role?

Working part-time remotely requires good time management and proactive communication. Setting a clear schedule and dedicated workspace can help you stay focused and organized. Regularly checking in with your team via messaging platforms or scheduled meetings ensures you're aligned with ongoing projects and helps prevent feelings of isolation. Using task management tools and setting daily goals can also keep you on track and make it easier to balance your workload with other responsibilities.

Job description

Remote/Part-Time

Corporate Leadership Instructional Designer - ILT/VILT

Premium Boutique Training Firm - Metro New York

Our client, a premium boutique corporate leadership and soft-skills training firm, is seeking an experienced part-time Corporate Instructional Designer - ILT/VILT to design and customize highly engaging learning experiences for its growing client portfolio.

This role requires more than the ability to create polished training materials. We are looking for an instructional designer who can think critically about how adults learn—someone who can take existing content and determine what should be changed, added, removed, or redesigned to create an effective, experiential learning experience.

Significant experience designing live Instructor-Led Training (ILT) and/or Virtual Instructor-Led Training (VILT) for corporate audiences is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and customize ILT/VILT leadership, management, and business soft-skills programs for corporate audiences
  • Transform content into interactive, experiential learning using exercises, discussions, scenarios, case studies, practice, reflection, and application
  • Evaluate existing programs and determine what needs to change instructionally—and why
  • Customize slide decks, facilitator guides, participant materials, prework, and other learning resources
  • Work directly with clients to understand business needs, gather requirements, recommend solutions, and provide project updates
  • Manage multiple client projects from planning through completion, including timelines and deliverables
  • Collaborate closely with a small team while working independently and taking ownership for results

Key Competencies & Experience

  • 5+ years of corporate instructional-design experience, preferably in leadership, management, interpersonal communication, sales, or professional development
  • Strong ILT and/or VILT design experience is required
  • Demonstrated ability to create highly interactive and experiential adult learning
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, and instructional judgment
  • Ability to explain the reasoning behind instructional-design decisions, not simply execute requested changes
  • Strong understanding of adult-learning principles and learning methodologies
  • Excellent client-facing, verbal, and written communication skills
  • High degree of self-motivation, ownership, follow-through, and attention to detail
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and competing priorities
  • Advanced Microsoft PowerPoint and Word skills with the ability to produce polished, professional learning materials
  • Bachelor's degree preferred

Hours & Environment

  • 25–29+ hours per week
  • Fully remote
  • Candidates must be located in the Eastern or Central U.S. time zones
  • Potential to evolve into a full-time role

We are especially interested in candidates who can show us not just what they designed, but how they think: What wasn't working? What did you change? Why did you change it? How did you make the learning more engaging and experiential—and what were participants expected to do differently as a result?
