Employee Relations Investigator
The Opportunity:
We are seeking a senior employee relations investigator with strong investigative skills and a passion for ensuring fairness, compliance, and integrity in the workplace. In this role you will be responsible for conducting thorough, timely, and impartial investigations into complex employee conduct concerns, with a focus on independent judgement, issue spotting, and risk assessment. This position is located in the Washington Metro area. Due to the nature of work performed within this facility, U.S. citizenship is required.
What You'll Work On:
  • Conduct end-to-end investigations into workplace complaints, including harassment, discrimination, retaliation, misconduct, and violations of company policy.
  • Interview complainants, respondents, and witnesses while ensuring procedural fairness and neutrality.
  • Analyze data, communications, documents, and relevant evidence to develop a comprehensive understanding of events.
  • Draft clear, accurate, and well-reasoned investigation summaries and findings.
  • Ensure all investigations are advanced promptly through the full investigation lifecycle in alignment with established service level agreements, recognizing the high-risk nature and potential business impact of such matters.
  • Identify and escalate high-risk issues, including those with potential legal, compliance, or reputational implications.
  • Collaborate with Legal and HR to ensure proper resolution, documentation, and consistency in approach.
  • Maintain detailed records and case files in accordance with documentation standards and timeliness.
  • Provide consultation to HR and leadership on investigation process, policy interpretation, and next steps while ensuring all investigations are handled with the utmost confidentiality and compliance with applicable laws and internal policies.

You Have:
  • Experience handling sensitive matters with discretion and professionalism
  • Knowledge of employment law principles and workplace compliance policies
  • Ability to write clear, objective, and defensible reports or summaries based on factual evidence
  • Bachelor's degree and 7+ years of experience with employee relations investigations, or 9+ years of experience with employee relations investigations in lieu of a degree

Nice If You Have:
  • Experience with case management systems or investigative databases
  • Experience with structured interview techniques and root-cause analysis
  • Experience working in a matrixed or large-scale organizational structure
  • Experience with human resources
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision
  • Possession of excellent interpersonal, communication, and critical-thinking skills
  • Professional Certification such as AWI-CH, SHRM-CP, or PHR Certification

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $77,600.00 to $176,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees. This posting will close within 90 days from the Posting Date.
