Job Description:
Job Summary
Responsible for conducting ongoing surveillance and interpretation of patients' cardiac rhythms while on cardiac monitors. Notifies RNs and clinicians immediately of any changes in cardiac rhythms. Delivers telemetry to nursing units and performs initial monitor hook-up and discharge. Prepares patients and provides teaching related to cardiac monitoring. Ensures accurate documentation and supports patient safety.
Essential Functions
• Assists RNs and clinicians with cardiac monitoring, interpretation, documentation, and related procedures.
• Monitors and records physiological measurements, including obtaining six-second strips as indicated by patient condition or physician order.
• Identifies patient arrhythmias, abnormalities, or significant changes from baseline and reports to the RN, provider, or appropriate supervisor.
• Initiates, configures, and discontinues monitoring equipment on admission, transfer, or discharge, and maintains cardiac equipment.
• Documents and interprets patient heart rhythms and rates using telemetry recordings and maintains accurate records in the EMR and log books.
• Performs clerical duties related to admission, discharge, and documentation of patient information from the central monitoring unit.
• Orients and mentors new team members, serves as a resource for training and troubleshooting, and gives reports to oncoming shifts.
• Prioritizes and organizes work assignments, maintains and stocks equipment and supplies, and reports equipment failures to Bio-med.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Education Requirement
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience Requirement
0-1 years of experience in a healthcare, clinical setting, or a relevant area
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
All experience must be paid and in the same related field.
Part-time and PRN experience will be prorated based on hours worked per week.
Volunteer work and internships for academic credit are not counted.
