Harborview - Food and Nutrition has an outstanding opportunity for a Food Service Worker.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
The Nutrition and Food Services department supports UW Medicine's mission by delivering extraordinary experiences with compassionate evidence-based care, unforgettable customer service, and fresh and nutritious food for patients, families, and the greater community.

Primary Job Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and serve food and beverages compliant with medically prescribed diet orders, including fluid, texture, electrolyte and nutrient restrictions in a medically vulnerable population or with special attention to food allergens and cross-contamination.
  • Prepare and serve food and beverages for medically vulnerable populations, or with special attention to food allergens and cross-contamination, and perform clean-up and sanitization activities for food equipment.
  • Retrieval and processing of food and food preparation/serving equipment with adherence to healthcare-level infection and cross-contamination prevention protocols.
  • Transports food, supplies, and equipment to and from kitchen, dining areas, storerooms, and refrigerators.
  • Serves food individually or from steam tables and carts; loads and clears steam tables and carts.
  • Cleans and sanitizes equipment and other surfaces.
  • Stocks work areas, including nursing unit pantries, practices First In First Out (FIFO) methods to minimize waste.
  • Operates standard kitchen appliances and equipment (e.g. coffee maker, toaster, dish and glass washers, mixers, dish machine).
  • Follows department policies and procedures for food safety and sanitation. Complies with infection control policy and hand washing procedures.
  • Performs other work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Possession of, or eligible to obtain a Washington State Food Worker Card within two weeks of employment AND one year of experience preparing and serving food and beverage or equivalent education/experience.
Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.
