UW Medicine Primary Care at Shoreline and Northgate has a unique opportunity for a OB/GYN Registered Nurse 2!
WORK SCHEDULE
  • Part-time, 80% FTE (32 hours per week)
  • 3 days at Shoreline and 1 day at Northgate
  • Day Shift

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
Board-certified providers offer a complete spectrum of primary care services, including family medicine with obstetrics, geriatrics, behavioral health, travel medicine, nutrition services, reproductive health and sports medicine. An on-site lab and digital X-ray facilities are available to you.
DUTY STATION REQUIREMENTS:
This position will require occasional travelling to other OB/GYN clinics within UW Medicine Primary Care and Population Health Clinics (South Lake Union, Ravenna, Northgate, and Shoreline) if coverage is needed.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • In-basket management in accordance with established protocols to assess patient needs and ensure timely, appropriate care. Shared responsibility despite home clinic.
  • Serves as a clinical resource, responding to patient and staff inquiries and coordinating care for patients across UWNC sites to promote continuity and quality of care.
  • Applies professional skills and knowledge of established concepts, principles, and practice to provide care coordination to UWNC patients.
  • Demonstrates comprehensive nursing knowledge and clinical skills consistent with current ambulatory standards for women's prenatal, gynecologic, and primary care. This includes expertise in family planning and contraception, breast health and lactation assessment/support, and mental health considerations.
  • Maintains the clinical competence required to perform and assist with specialty procedures, including nonstress testing, wound care, catheterization and voiding trials, and provider-assisted procedures, FHR doppler visits, BP checks, medication administration, C/S pre-op teaching, GYN preop teaching, post-Op calls.
  • Assesses patients/families' knowledge, learning needs, readiness, and comprehension abilities.
  • Performs telephone and face to face triage or gives health information using approved protocols and materials.
  • Applies nursing best practices to identify and prioritize healthcare triage interventions that are appropriate, effective and that reduce the risk of adverse outcomes.
  • Collaborates with nursing colleagues across UW Medicine (including Roosevelt, HMC, MFM, and NW locations) to develop, refine, and deliver standardized OB/GYN nursing practices across the health system.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Washington

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • 2 years minimum ambulatory OB/GYN or inpatient OB experience
  • Certificate in Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM)
  • American Heart Association BLS Certification
  • Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.
