Job description

Job Announcement The City of Chandler Public Works & Utilities Department is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as Capital Improvement Projects Division Manager working within the Capital Improvement Project (CIP) Division. This operational manager role reports to the PW&U Assistant Director. It is an at-will position, serving at the PW&U Director's discretion.

The role is full-time, exempt, and requires working Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Current City of Chandler employees may only hold one position and are not eligible for additional part-time or secondary positions within the City of Chandler. Why work for Chandler.

This division is responsible for the management and coordination of the orderly design and construction of the City's capital infrastructure in the Capital Improvement Program, including procurement of professional services, design, construction and construction management for transportation, utilities, public buildings, community services and other general government improvements. Who we are looking for Our new team member will be passionate about customer service, teamwork, and collaboration.

We are looking for someone to supervise, manage, and lead the activities and operations of the Capital Projects Division, including overseeing fiscal, budgetary, and personnel functions, as well as goal setting and policy making alongside a Department Assistant Director. This classification is distinguished from other engineering work by the requirement for an Arizona Licensed Professional Engineer designation. Minimum Qualifications A bachelor's degree in in Construction Management, Engineering or related field; and 8 years of experience in the design and construction of public facilities, including project assessments, approved products, design standards, schedules, design reviews, project cost estimates, value engineering, construction reviews, and inspection procedures, including at least 3 years of supervisory experience; and An Arizona Professional Engineer Licensure (Preferred Civil Engineering Licensure); and A valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work. Desired qualifications Multifaceted experience with a specific focus in design and construction management.

Creating standards and policies for design and construction. Prior experience with the municipality budgeting process. The City of Chandler will conduct a reference check and a driving record check as a condition of employment.
