What is a part time registered nurse RN?

Part Time Registered Nurses (RNs) are licensed healthcare professionals who provide patient care, administer medications, and collaborate with doctors and other medical staff, but work fewer hours than full-time nurses. They may work in hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, or other medical settings, often covering shifts during evenings, weekends, or busy periods. Part-time roles offer flexibility, making them ideal for those balancing work with other responsibilities such as family or education. Despite working fewer hours, part-time RNs must meet the same licensing and educational requirements as their full-time counterparts.

How do part time registered nurses RN typically integrate with full-time staff and maintain continuity of care?

Part-time Registered Nurses (RNs) often work closely with full-time staff through thorough handoffs and regular communication to ensure seamless patient care. They participate in shift-change meetings and document comprehensively to keep colleagues informed of patient status and care plans. While they may face challenges in staying updated on frequent policy changes or new procedures, most healthcare facilities provide flexible training sessions and accessible resources to support part-time staff. Collaboration and adaptability are key, as part-time RNs contribute valuable support while maintaining high-quality standards alongside their full-time counterparts.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time registered nurse RN, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time Registered Nurse RN, you need a current RN license, strong clinical assessment abilities, and a solid understanding of nursing best practices. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHRs), medication administration systems, and basic medical equipment is typically required. Excellent communication, time management, and adaptability are crucial soft skills for balancing patient care with a flexible schedule. These competencies ensure safe, effective care and seamless teamwork, even when working variable shifts or reduced hours.

Job description

Full-Time or Part-Time RN or LPN - Mesa, AZ

Urgently Hiring | Flexible Days & Hours | One-on-One Private Duty Nursing

Dependable Nurses, Inc. is seeking a compassionate, dependable Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide skilled one-on-one in-home nursing care for a medically fragile patient in Mesa, Arizona.

This is a full-time opportunity with flexible days and hours, making it a great fit for a nurse who is looking for consistency while still having some flexibility in their schedule.

A Special Nurse for a Special Patient

Because this patient is medically fragile and particularly vulnerable to illness and infection, we are looking for a nurse who is willing to take additional precautions to help protect the patient's health and safety.

The ideal nurse for this case would be comfortable making this patient their primary nursing commitment and limiting activities that could significantly increase exposure to illness, including working in other high-exposure healthcare settings or attending large, crowded events.

If you are looking for a rewarding opportunity where you can focus your skills and attention on one patient, one family, and truly individualized care, we would love to speak with you.

Why Choose Dependable Nurses?
  • Full-Time Employment

  • Flexible days and hours

  • Competitive weekly pay

  • Medical, Dental & Vision Benefits

  • Paid Time Off (PTO)

  • 401(k) available

  • Paid orientation and one-on-one training

  • Electronic charting

  • 24/7 clinical and administrative support

  • Rewarding one-on-one patient care

  • Opportunities for career advancement within a growing organization

Responsibilities
  • Provide skilled nursing care in the patient's home

  • Follow physician orders and individualized care plans

  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed

  • Perform patient assessments and monitor changes in condition

  • Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation

  • Communicate effectively with physicians, family, and the clinical team

  • Assist with activities of daily living as appropriate

  • Maintain a safe, comfortable, and supportive environment

  • Follow enhanced infection-prevention practices appropriate to the patient's medical needs

Qualifications
  • Current Arizona RN or LPN License (Compact License accepted)

  • Current BLS Certification

  • Valid Arizona Driver's License and reliable transportation

  • Current TB test or chest X-ray within the past 12 months

  • Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card

  • Article 9 Certification (or willingness to obtain-we can assist)

  • Excellent communication and critical-thinking skills

  • Compassionate, dependable, and patient-focused

  • Willingness to take additional precautions to minimize potential exposure to illness due to the patient's medical vulnerability

New Graduates Welcome!

We provide paid orientation and one-on-one training to help you build confidence and succeed.
