SUMMARY:
The Day Porter/Event Setup Specialist is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, appearance, and daily readiness of the school facility. This position also provides setup, breakdown, and custodial support for school events, meetings, assemblies, lunch periods, arrival and dismissal activities, athletic events, and other special functions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs assigned duties in a professional manner and maintains high standards of service.
- Performs continuous cleaning and touch-up services throughout the school day.
- Cleans and maintains restrooms, including fixtures, mirrors, floors, and high-touch surfaces, and replenishes supplies as needed.
- Empties trash and recycling containers and transports waste to designated collection areas.
- Maintains hallways, entrances, common areas, cafeterias, staff areas, classrooms, and other assigned spaces.
- Performs dusting, wiping, sweeping, mopping, spot cleaning, and spill response as needed.
- Conducts regular walkthroughs to identify and address cleaning and facility needs.
- Responds promptly to cleaning requests, spills, accidents, overflowing trash, and other immediate needs.
- Assists with the setup and breakdown of tables, chairs, podiums, barricades, trash containers, signs, and other equipment for school activities and events.
- Prepares cafeterias, gymnasiums, classrooms, meeting rooms, common areas, and outdoor spaces for scheduled events.
- Assists with cafeteria and lunch setup, cleanup, furniture arrangements, and room resets.
- Assists with arrival and dismissal setup, including placement and removal of cones, barricades, signs, and other designated equipment.
- Provides custodial and setup support for assemblies, parent meetings, staff meetings, athletic events, graduations, school programs, and other special functions.
- Monitors event areas, addresses spills and trash, and makes furniture or equipment adjustments as needed.
- Performs post-event cleanup, returns rooms to their designated configuration, and properly stores equipment.
- Maintains a professional and courteous presence around students, staff, families, and visitors.
- Ability to use a variety of computer-based software.
- Reports maintenance concerns, damaged equipment, leaks, safety hazards, security concerns, accidents, and injuries to the appropriate supervisor.
- Follows Company and school safety procedures, including proper use of PPE, cleaning chemicals, equipment, and material-handling techniques.
- Keeps hallways, entrances, exits, and work areas clear of equipment, debris, and other hazards.
- Maintains confidentiality and appropriate professional boundaries when working around students and school personnel.
- Reports to work on time and in the required Company uniform, identification badge, and safety footwear.
- Works independently with normal supervision while cooperating with school personnel and other team members.
- Adapts to changing schedules, event needs, and operational priorities throughout the school day.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma is preferred.
- Six months of related experience is preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE:
- Ability to understand written and verbal instructions in English. Must be able to communicate in and understand English.
