About The Role:

The Youth Prevention Education Advocate conducts outreach and delivers educational sessions and prevention programs to reduce gender-based violence. The Advocate will carry out the sexual assault prevention education program by conducting education within school-based settings and community outreach. Advocate will also provide individual support services and crisis response for youth survivors of gender-based violence. 

Principle Duties & Responsibilities:

• In collaboration with Outreach and Prevention Manager, further develop/implement a plan to address sexual violence prevention in the community.
• Coordinate the implementation of sexual violence prevention strategies within schools and in the community.
• Teach sexual assault prevention and anti-oppression practices at middle schools, high schools, for ages 12 and up.
• Carry out workshops for parents and families as well as community organizations.
• Build community partnerships with museums and other arts and humanities institutions, collectives, and individuals to increase Latine youth participation/engagement with community.
• Develop and nurture relationships with key individuals and organization in the community.
• Participate in community based anti-violence coalitions emphasizing rape prevention perspectives.
• Maintain professional competency by attending trainings and accessing other mechanisms (e.g., technical assistance, online tutorials, reading articles, etc.) for developing new knowledge and skills associated with sexual violence prevention.
• Assist in completing  required reports and other documentation in a timely and complete manner.
• Adherence to El Programa Hispano Catolico policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Must be bilingual (Spanish/English) and bi-culturally competent.
• Ability to communicate concisely and effectively, both verbally and in writing in Spanish and English.
• Bachelor's degree preferred in one of the following areas: education, sociology, women's studies, human services, social work, public health, counseling, communications, psychology or other related fields or equivalent experience.
• Experience working with school-aged youth preferred.
• 40 hour DHS required domestic violence/sexual assault advocacy training preferred. (May be completed within first two weeks of hire) 
• Experience working in the field of sexual violence and in community outreach/organizing/mobilization preferred; however, other community organizing experience will be considered.
• Demonstrated  experience in facilitating and delivering trainings and presentations.
• Comprehensive  understanding and experience in the following preferred: public health principles, program planning and coordination, community assessment, and program evaluation.
• Commitment to EPHC mission to work in partnership with vulnerable populations to achieve lasting solutions to poverty and injustice.
• Demonstrate judgment and discretion in dealing with confidential matters.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office programs (including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).
• Must be able to organize and prioritize work, be proactive, take initiative, resolve problems, follow through, and simultaneously manage multiple priorities to ensure goals are met in a timely manner.
• Strong analytical and strategic problem solving skills.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule that could include some weekends and evenings.
• Ability to work well in team setting, as well as independently; be flexible and adapt well to different dynamics within a fast paced environment.
• Ability to take initiative and prioritize tasks; good time management, problem prevention, and problem solving skills.
• Must have a valid driver's license and automobile insurance coverage at 100/300/100 levels.

Compensation: $24.00 per hour.

Location & Typical Working Conditions:  The majority of work performed by this position will be accomplished within schools and out in the community. 50% school based, 25% community work, 25% in the office. Office work is located in Gresham, OR.
