Description

Semmes Murphey Clinic is committed to implementing a team-based approach to provide excellence in patient care. The Radiology Tech Assistant will work with other members of Semmes Murphey Clinic to provide patient services and is expected to participate in the appropriate team activities with the objective of providing a high standard of patient and clinical service. 


The Radiology Tech Assistant is responsible for directing and coordinating activities of the radiology/diagnostic imaging department, processing medical films, transporting patients, and providing other routine assistance to radiology staff.


This is an onsite, part-time role with typical hours being 9:00am-2:00pm Monday through Friday.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Loads CD's from outside hospitals, clinic and referring physicians
  • Responds to nursing calls of request for surgery films
  • Transfers images from PACS to Modality system for filming
  • Produces CD of images per patient request
  • Assist with monthly audit of charges posted
  • Responsible for reporting number of weekly radiology scans to Administration
  • Responsible for cleaning up mismatched entries in Centricity Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
  • Assist with entry of orders into Centricity EMR
  • Responsible for transferring critical PACS images to outside facilities for surgeries
  • Imports patient images into PACS from outside facilities to be viewed by our physicians
  • Responsible for moving, correcting and cleanup of PACS studies
  • Assists with ordering of supplies
  • Responsible for disposal of shred box
  • Responsible for shipping requested imaging via FedEx

Requirements

MINIMUM 

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Six (6) months of related experience and/or training

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook and Word), electronic medical Records (EMR) and medical practice software
  • Effective communication, both oral and written, with the ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive and negative situations, while listening and responding appropriately to questions
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage difficult or emotional customer situations; respond promptly to needs
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret verbal orders and direction
  • Organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to manage workflow and prioritize demands
  • Can accept suggestions and recommendations
