Job Opportunity: Pharmacy Technician

Our organization is excited to announce a fantastic opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician to become a vital member of our Inpatient Pharmacy Team!

  • Part-Time: 20 hours per week
  • Shift: Day Shift
Position Highlights

In this role, you will:

  • Carry out a range of pharmaceutical tasks within the central inpatient or satellite pharmacies.
  • Under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, independently execute various technical pharmaceutical duties, including compounding medications, processing medication orders, and preparing compounded sterile products.
Primary Job Responsibilities
  • Prepare medications based on physician orders or pharmacy-generated labels in single-dose packaging, including compounded sterile products and extemporaneously prepared doses.
  • Load and replenish PYXIS automated dispensing cabinets.
  • Deliver medications to nursing units, clinics, and procedural areas, ensuring timely return of discontinued medications to the pharmacy. After crediting, return medications to their designated locations.
  • Package medications into single-unit packages and conduct bulk packaging, including batch preparation of compounded sterile products.
  • Verify that medications are within their expiration dates. Complete monthly checks for outdates, perform unit inspections, document findings, and communicate results. Maintain medication stock in assigned procedure areas and clinics.
  • Execute routine computer tasks, including charge/credits and label generation.
  • Gather patients' medication lists and input them into the medication reconciliation database.
  • Fulfill the responsibilities of a pharmacy assistant as needed.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician training program.
  • Prior experience in a hospital pharmacy is preferred.
  • Knowledge of sterile intravenous admixture practices is advantageous.
  • Minimum of six months of experience as a Pharmacy Assistant or equivalent education/experience.
  • Certification as a Pharmacy Technician in the State of Washington is mandatory.
