BASIC FUNCTION:

The NOAA Center in Atmospheric Sciences and Meteorology at Howard University invite applications for two (2) part-time (20hr/wk during regular semester, and up to 40hr/wk during summer) research assistant positions in the areas of planetary boundary layer measurements and analysis. The positions require assisting research projects within the scope of NCAS-M research thrusts.

CORE COMPETENCIES:

Experience in instrumentation, data collection and analysis with proficiency in scientific programming languages (e.g., Python, C++, Fortran, etc.) for analysis are required. Knowledge of and experience with atmospheric physics, boundary layer meteorology, clouds and water cycle are essential. Other experiences include using high performance computers, ability to perform independent research, strong verbal and written communication skills.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

BS or MS in atmospheric sciences or a closely related field. Demonstration of organizational skills with the ability to work effectively in teams is essential. Additionally, working independently to produce reports and publish research results in peer-reviewed journals is required.
