Hornets Sports & Entertainment (HSE) is a leading sports and entertainment organization dedicated to excellence both on and off the court. In addition to Charlotte Hornets basketball, Spectrum Center serves as a premier venue for concerts, family shows, and major sporting events. HSE is committed to positively impacting the Charlotte community by fostering connection, inclusion, and engagement through sports and live entertainment.
HSE is seeking a Business Intelligence Intern to support the Revenue division through data-driven insights that inform ticketing, partnerships, and marketing strategy. This role offers hands-on experience at the intersection of analytics and business strategy. The intern will support end-to-end analytical work, including conducting research, writing queries to extract data from the data warehouse, managing and validating datasets, and designing dashboards in Tableau. The Business Intelligence Intern will also assist in translating data into clear, actionable insights and communicating findings to key stakeholders across the organization.
This is a paid, in-person internship. Interns will be paid $15.00 per hour, with the ability to work a minimum of twenty (20), maximum of thirty (30) hours per week. The 2026-2027 season program runs from September 7, 2026, through April 23, 2027.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support ongoing projects for Business Intelligence, Partnerships, Ticketing, Marketing, Mobile App and other areas of the business.
  • Provide insights using data on consumer behavior, attitudes, demographics and more.
  • Review and maintain current Tableau dashboards and optimize SQL queries.
  • Assist with organizing, cleaning and managing data in CRM.
  • Participate in the full internship program, including workshops, speaker series, job shadowing and working on an intern project.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills, Experience, and Abilities
To be successful in this position, candidates should demonstrate the following:
  • Graduate or current student pursuing a degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Business Administration, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Interested in working in the sports industry, specifically within Business Intelligence.
  • Male collegiate basketball players must have exhausted their NCAA eligibility before participating in the HSE internship program.
  • Detail-oriented, self-starter with proven ability to learn new skills quickly.
  • Possess strong analytical, creative problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with market research is preferred.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau preferred) is preferred.
  • Experience with SQL or other database languages is preferred.
  • Experience with data science and statistical software (R, Python) is a plus.
  • Experience with HTML is a plus.
  • Availability to work Hornets home games, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
