Your opportunity:
Reporting to the Vice-Dean, Research you will play a key role in advising faculty on clinical funding application strategies, coordinating and guiding applicants through the various phases of clinical research funding application process. You will provide detailed information to faculty on completing, submitting, and coordinating clinical research applications. Your role includes advising on improvements to draft funding proposals to better meet requirements, conducting analysis on research trends, and keeping well-informed on research funding programs, application guidelines, policies/procedures and regulations funding. You will play an integral role in researching and recommending new opportunities for external funding.

Please note this is for a part-time (50% FTE) term position with a duration of 22-months.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Advising faculty on clinical funding application strategies
  • Providing detailed information to faculty on completing, submitting, and coordinating research applications
  • Researching, analyzing and recommending solutions to research funding applications issues
  • Coordinating the preparation of submission materials
  • Keeping well-informed on clinical and industry-sponsored funding opportunities and resources, application policies/procedures and key deadlines
  • Liaising with academic units and stakeholders to support research funding initiatives
  • Acting as a liaison between patients and Dentistry's clinical researchers, as required
  • Monitoring department budget to ensure expenditures remain within budgeted allocations
  • Serving as a resource to others by providing (non-supervisory) guidance related to grant research funding, as appropriate

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum three years of recent related experience in research administration, including managing grant proposal processes, preferably in a health-related, clinical, or multi-disciplinary research institution.
  • Demonstrated experience and a successful track record of researching and sourcing relevant funding opportunities, and developing and implementing plans to attain such funding opportunities.
  • Demonstrated experience with tailoring and editing grant proposals in alignment with the selection/evaluation criteria of the research funding program.
  • Strong interpersonal skillsdemonstrated through building relationships with relevant stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong project management, organizational and time management skills to manage multiple competing priorities.High degree of initiative.
  • Sound decision making, analytical and problem solving skills and an attention to detail.
  • Strong client services orientation and relationship management skills
