Job description

Wisconsin Electric Power, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking a Intern - Energy Analytics in our Milwaukee, Wisconsin location. This internship is full-time during the Summer of 2027 with the potential to work part-time during the academic year. The hourly rate for this internship is $23.10 with paid company holidays.

Job Summary

Power Operations is responsible for day-ahead and real-time electric trading operations for WEC's utility and non-utility projects in wholesale electric markets.  The group works to optimize electric load forecasting, generation cost and availability, environmental testing, and load management programs to mitigate risk and promote favorable financial outcomes while reliably serving load. 

Job Responsibilities
  • Analyze and support improvements to energy offer strategies for power generation sales into wholesale electric markets
  • Learn about market integration of new battery projects
  • Analyze Power Purchase Agreements and Renewable Energy Credit transactions for wind and solar projects
  • Review cost parameters for electric generators to improve operating cost forecasting
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, GED, or HSED
  • Current pursuit of a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Analytics, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Economics and other related majors with a graduation date after July 2027
  • Minimum GPA of 2.8
  • Valid Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications
  • Energy market knowledge

Pay Range Minimum:  $23.10

Pay Range Maximum:  $27.55

The pay range reflects the minimum and maximum for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. The starting salary/pay within the pay range will be based on several factors, as applicable, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, travel requirements, collective bargaining agreements, and business and organizational needs.  At WEC Energy Group, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
