Ward Preschool is seeking a warm, dependable Assistant Teacher who has a genuine love for children and a heart for Christian education. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working as part of a team, supporting a nurturing classroom environment, and helping young children grow socially, emotionally, cognitively, physically, and spiritually.

Position Summary

The Assistant Teacher works closely with the Lead Teacher to carry out daily lesson plans and classroom activities in accordance with the mission and priorities of Ward Preschool. The Assistant Teacher serves as a guide, motivator, and role model, helping create a loving, safe, and engaging learning environment for children.

This position reports to the Ward Preschool Director and the assigned Lead Teacher.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing the daily classroom environment and learning centers
  • Prepare materials and supplies under the direction of the Lead Teacher
  • Support planning and instruction of readiness skills and classroom lessons
  • Provide consistent, age-appropriate guidance for children
  • Help maintain a loving, healthy, and safe classroom environment
  • Support the social, emotional, cognitive, physical, and spiritual development of children
  • Assist with general housekeeping and classroom organization tasks
  • Attend staff, team, and parent meetings as scheduled
  • Participate in required trainings and a minimum of 16 hours of annual in-service education
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality regarding students and families
