Job description

Copaken Brooks, LLC is a full-service commercial real estate firm headquartered in Kansas City and serving the Midwest. The company’s full suite of services includes investment acquisition and sales, tenant representation and HQ relocations, condominium management, property management, asset management, development, leasing (office, retail, medical, industrial and underground), and construction management. We have over 90 years of proven experience in playing a major role in where millions of people go to work, shop, and live.

Copaken Brooks is seeking a Part-Time Doorman to be located at The Walnuts Condominiums on the Kansas City Plaza. This position will be assigned 3 days per week for 18 hours per week.

Primary Objective: The safety, security, well-being and convenience of all owners and visitors

Typical Duties

  1. Greeting and assisting owners and visitors.

  2. Stand up when anyone enters the lobby.  Mute or turn off television if it is on.

  3. Meet vehicles that stop at the front door.  Direct all repairmen and commercial vehicles to garage service entrance.

  4. Open both Walnuts front doors for residents and known visitors to enter and depart.  Call owners to announce visitors by name.  Unknown visitors should use outside intercom to state with whom they wish to visit.  The doorman should get approval from the owner before admitting visitors.

  5. Offer to assist residents with luggage and small packages.

  6. Ask limos/cabs for whom they are waiting and call owners promptly.

  7. Notify owner if owner’s vehicle is still outside prior to leaving at 9:00 pm.

  8. For evening shift, check with the doorman on duty at the beginning of your shift and ask for messages, requests or other information that could affect your shift.

  9. The first shift doorman in CD building is responsible for putting up the flag and the second shift doorman is responsible for bringing in the flag.  Follow U.S. procedures for handling the flag.

  10. Keep lobby, steps, elevator cabs, rugs and doors clean.

  11. Good conduct and appearance are required and very important.  Name tags are to be worn when on duty.

  12. Ability to respond to emergency situations and follow established safety procedures i.e. in case of fire, tornado warning etc.

  13. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Excellent communication and customer service skills.  A high school diploma or equivalent.  

Physical Requirements

  • Willing and able to stand and walk for extensive periods of time

  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds (boxes, items, etc.)

  • Working in all weather conditions
