Job description

ICU RNUnit Notes: RN's - Pass/Fail exam on Friday during orientation. OPEN BOOK exam on skills learned - they are given all necessary resources to pass. Must receive a 90% to pass or they will be terminated. Radius Rule: 50 miles AND candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity. Driver's license required at submittal and will be used to determine if candidate is outside 50 miles. Fingernail policy: Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care- refusal to remove nails will lead to termination of contract.Department: ICU RN Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS - PALS & TNCC preferredPRESCREEN+AUTO OFFER DKA, STEMI, stroke, A fib RVR, COVID, COPS EXAC, PE, light stuff cause they have no GI doctors- sometimes we stabilize to send to Bergan. Number of Beds: 16. Nurse:Patient Ratios: ratio is 1:2, but sometimes stretches to 1:3. Will float to a lower level of care which includes PCU and Medsurg. Training provided.Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Medical ICU- sepsis, resp failure, stroke, MI.How many years' experience required? Preferred 2 years. Previous travel experience required? Preferred. Experience or 'Must have' skills: ICU experience with experience in drips, vents, bipaps.Are RNs required to titrate drips? Yes. Common titratable &/or set rate drips: vasopressors, sedation (levo, neo, cardene, precedex, propofol, etc).Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Yes. Does the charge nurse take an assignment? Yes. Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties? No nurse aids.Hospitalist &/or Intensivist in house 24/7? In the ICU 24/7? Hospitalist 24/7 in house, intensivists in house during day hours and available tele medicine during night. RT in ICU 24/7? No, shared with ER.RT Equipment (Vents, CPAP, BiPap, High Flow, etc.) Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot? RT does all adjusting. Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Centralized tele monitor techs not located in house. Are RNs required to read their own strips? Monitor tech will read but nurse but be able to read and verify. What brand are the tele monitors? Draegers.Shifts & Scheduling: 1830-0700. Every third weekend. Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling? No self-scheduling. Cannot guarantee block scheduling. A traveler is needed for high need shift. Weekend Requirements: Every third weekend. Holiday Requirements: 4th of July. Is there a call or standby requirement? No. Floating Requirements: Will float to a lower level of care which includes PCU and Medsurg. Training provided. Scrub Color/Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs. How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation? 1 shift for ICU and 1 shift for PCU.Radius Rule: 50 miles AND candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity within the past year RTO needed upfront - Additional RTO will not be approved, including after submissions.
