Job description

As a Driver/Porter, you will play a vital role in supporting our dealershipโ€™s operations by delivering parts, transporting customers, and maintaining an efficient and professional service experience. This position combines the responsibilities of a Parts Driver, responsible for the timely delivery and pickup of automotive parts, with those of a Porter, ensuring our customers receive exceptional service and support during their visits to the dealership.

Parts Driver Duties:

  • Safely drive company vehicles to pick up and deliver parts from local suppliers, neighboring states, and other areas as needed.
  • Verify and maintain accurate documentation for parts orders and deliveries.
  • Inspect and secure parts to ensure safe transport and prevent damage.
  • Collaborate with the parts team to prioritize urgent deliveries and optimize delivery routes.
  • Maintain an organized delivery schedule to ensure timely arrivals and departures.
  • Assist with parts inventory organization, stocking, and occasional warehouse duties.
  • Load and unload parts efficiently, adhering to safety protocols.

Porting Duties:

  • Greet customers upon arrival to the Service Department and assist with vehicle tagging and movement to the service lot.
  • Provide shuttle services for customers, transporting them safely and courteously to and from work, home, or other locations.
  • Assist customers entering or exiting vehicles and with handling personal belongings when necessary.
  • Retrieve vehicles for customer pick-ups.
  • Ensure all company vehicles, including parts delivery vehicles and shuttles, are clean, well-maintained, and in good working condition.

General Responsibilities:

  • Operate all vehicles, including those with automatic and standard transmissions, within legal speed limits and in a safe manner at all times.
  • Communicate professionally with team members and customers to ensure smooth operations.
  • Uphold the dealershipโ€™s commitment to outstanding service by maintaining a positive and professional demeanor.
  • Follow all safety protocols and dealership policies during vehicle operation and handling.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid, unrestricted driverโ€™s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to drive automatic and standard-transmission vehicles.
  • Forklift certification (preferred).
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently.
  • Professional appearance and behavior.
