Job description

JOB SUMMARY:
Performs various information managing operations under the Supervision of the Evidence Manager which requires some judgment and experience. Provides general office support for Unified Police Evidence Unit staff, while maintaining a high level of confidentiality related to case information.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
General Office Duties:
  • Enters data into RMS from handwritten documents, CD's, or oral instructions. Images documents and attach files both electronically and physically to paper files as required.
  • Receives inquiries and requests for service from office employees, other agency personnel and general public by phone or in person. Utilizes the records computerized system to research, collect, and retrieve data to respond to inquiries.
  • Perform clerical duties as assigned.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and safe environment for visitors and staff according to Evidence and Department policies.
  • Safeguards police records and ensures that any information is disseminated in accordance with policy, statutes, and law.
  • Provide occasional assistance under the supervision of Evidence Technicians.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent
  • 6 months clerical or customer service experience.
  • Basic computer skills.

  • Unified Police Office Evidence Unit policies and procedures
  • Familiarity with Utah statute and statute of limitations in regards to evidence retention

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Able to sit and work at a computer station for extended periods of time.
  • Able to perform general office administrative activities: typing and data entry.
  • Able to occasionally lift and move up to 40 pounds.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THIS POSITION
  • This is a part time position, working 20 hours a week between the hours of 6:30 am - 5:00 pm, Monday through Thursday, excluding UPD Holidays.
