Total hours required per week: A minimum of eight (8) hours per week for a three (3) semester hour class.
Minimum Requirements: Master's Degree in Physics, or Master's Degree in science-related field with 18 graduate semester hours in Physics.
Work Schedule: To be determined by Department Chair.This is an on-site position. Essential duties of the role must be performed in-person, during prescribed work hours.
Position Summary & Essential Duties
SUMMARY:
Under general supervision from the departmental chair, the incumbent teaches courses as scheduled, cultivates a healthy teacher-student relationship, and engages the students in active learning. The incumbent will make recommendations regarding curriculum changes, text selection, and content revision. The instructor will perform administrative aspects of instruction in a timely manner.
Qualifications (Required and Preferred)
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL AND WORK REQUIREMENTS (MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS):
Master's Degree in Physics, or Master's Degree in science-related field with 18 graduate semester hours in Physics.
PREFERRED:
Doctor's Degree in Physics.
Additional 18 hours of graduate work in a second teaching field.
Experience in the community college academic environment.
Involvement in science education activities and science outreach.

PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Primarily light physical activity is required with occasional lifting and manipulation of objects up to 25 pounds. Keyboarding and computer use. Use of Audio/Visual equipment or equipment in an instructional setting. Use of lab equipment.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is normally performed in an interior/office work environment. Travel to offsite centers may be required. Some field trips may be necessary.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Schedule to be determined by department chair in accordance with the Faculty Load Policy. Incumbent will be teaching face-to-face lectures and/or labs.
