Responsibilities

The Jackson Lehman YMCA is seeking an enthusiastic and attentive part-time Personal Trainer to join our team by conducting personal training sessions and fostering relationships with YMCA members while walking them through a safe and effective wellness journey.

  • Connect: Build effective, authentic relationships with members and establish appropriate goals with each participant.
  • Serve: Prepare for each session and provide motivation and encouragement to participants.
  • Inspire: Make responsible judgments with regard to screening client participation prior to beginning exercise program and maintain knowledge of exercise equipment as well as current exercise trends.

Requirements

Candidates must be committed to contributing to the mission, culture, and values of the YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne as well as:

  • Minimum of 18 years of age or older.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work
  • May have a four-year degree in Exercise Science, PE, or other health-related fields with the expectation of achieving ACE/YMCA Strength and Conditioning or other National Accredited Certification within the first 30 days of employment.
  • Must have valid certifications, including NSCA, ACE, ACSM, AFAA, NASM, NETA, and ISSA, or obtain ACE/YMCA Strength and Conditioning certification prior to training clients and be able to maintain certifications and other training requirements for the position as outlined.
  • Must be able to work in a wellness-oriented atmosphere while maintaining structure and control.
  • Ability to relate to, welcome and communicate with diverse groups of people regardless of age, race, economic status, religion, or cultural differences.
  • This role may include working with female-identifying members who prefer a female personal trainer; applicants who can support this need are encouraged to apply.

Salary: Part-time $19.50- $20.00 hourly
