Job description

Primary Responsibilities: To provide painting/maintenance for Inclusive Housing Resources and provide high quality housing to people with disabilities.
Essential Functions:
  • Smooth and prepare surfaces for painting, including sanding and removing old paint
  • Fill nail holes, cracks, and joints with putty, plaster, or other filler
  • Tape, float, and texture walls and ceilings
  • Cover surfaces with cloth or plastic to ensure protection
  • Paint surfaces, using brushes, spray gun, or paint rollers, and apply paint with cloth, brush, sponge
  • Stain, seal, and varnish wood surfaces
  • Erect scaffolding or set up ladder to perform tasks above ground level
  • Detect needed repairs on buildings, grounds, and equipment by following established inspection procedures
  • Receive and complete works orders
  • Assist with inventory control of materials and equipment
  • Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean
Other Duties as Assigned
  • Other duties could include working in other areas of the maintenance department to provide support during absences or a shortage of staff
  • Requires flexibility and understanding that all maintenance staff may be required to perform duties outside their normal area of expertise to meet the mission and goals of the Maintenance Department
Requirements
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds continuously and the dexterity sufficient to perform the manual tasks involved
  • Ability to squat, stoop, kneel, bend, and stretch without injury or strain
  • Ability to reach and lift items over the head
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders or crawl into awkward/small spaces
  • Ability to transport tools and materials onto and around a job site
  • Ability to operate power tools
  • Must be clear of any medications or other substances that would impede the ability to safely operate vehicles, equipment, and/or power tools
  • Willingness to learn new skills
  • Ability to work with others to plan, coordinate, and/or complete tasks
  • Must have the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance (required to have less than 6 points on your license)
  • Must have high school diploma/GED
