What does a part time packaging designer do?

A Part Time Packaging Designer creates visual concepts and designs for product packaging on a part-time basis, working closely with marketing and product teams to ensure the packaging is both functional and visually appealing. Their responsibilities include conceptualizing packaging layouts, selecting appropriate materials, and preparing print-ready artwork. They often collaborate with printers and manufacturers to bring their designs to life while considering branding, cost, and environmental impact.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time packaging designer?

To thrive as a Part Time Packaging Designer, you need a solid foundation in graphic design, an understanding of branding principles, and a relevant degree or portfolio of work. Proficiency with design software like Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and packaging-specific tools such as dieline templates is typically required. Creativity, attention to detail, and strong communication skills help you deliver compelling designs that align with brand goals, even when collaborating remotely or on a limited schedule. These skills ensure packaging is both visually appealing and functional, meeting brand and client needs in a competitive marketplace.

What types of projects and collaboration can a part time packaging designer expect to handle on a typical week?

About Clarks

Clarks, based in Somerset, England, has been at the forefront of innovative shoemaking since its foundation in 1825, when brothers James and Cyrus Clark made a slipper from sheepskin off-cuts. At the time it was ground-breaking: a combination of invention and craftsmanship that has remained at the heart of what the brand does now. In the Clarks archive of more than 22,000 pairs are shoes that have sparked revolutions and defined generations. From the original Clarks Desert Boot, first designed by Nathan Clark and launched in 1950, to the iconic Wallabee, each design has an instantly recognizable signature that makes it unmistakably Clarks.

Clarks believes that the principle of equality of opportunity is fundamental to the company's operations. Our long-held aim is to provide just and fair treatment for all employees. We will not discriminate on the grounds of sex, age, disability, marital status, color, race, religion, ethnic origin, sexual orientation, or gender reassignment.
